About the Artist

I am a native of New Orleans who fell in love with mosaic art after attending an introductory workshop. There was an instant recognition that this art form was the one for me and I have been passionate about it ever since. For me, the process of designing and constructing mosaic art is mesmerizing. I love creating from the pieces a work that is stronger and more beautiful than the sum of its parts. I hope that my work can inspire positive feelings in others. I love that mosaics can be appreciated not only with the eyes, but with the hands; that these works are innately complex in their simplicity as each component can be considered individually while being an essential part of the larger picture. 

Sometimes in life our dreams are shattered and things fall apart, and then we have to pick up the pieces and glue our lives back together as best we can. I discovered this art at just such a point in my life, and so perhaps part of my love for mosaics is that it became a metaphor for what I was experiencing, and it was a very therapeutic outlet for my emotional healing.

I was inspired to select the name "cascade" because I have always felt a connection with water, our indispensable life source, and the word cascade calls to mind the natural, vibrant, abundant, ceaseless flow of energy which is what I hope to bring forth in artistic expression and in my life.
